Geisinger Accelerated Internal Medicine-Nephrology Track
An innovative and personalized route to a career in Nephrology.
Starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, the Geisinger Internal Medicine Residency in Danville will launch a groundbreaking, ACGME- and ABIM-approved pilot program—one of only three in the nation—that integrates Internal Medicine and Nephrology into a single, streamlined 4-year training pathway.
The Geisinger Accelerated Internal Medicine-Nephrology Track (GAIN) is an innovative track designed for highly motivated trainees seeking a more efficient, personalized route to a career in Nephrology. By condensing five years of training into four, participants can enter the workforce a full year earlier—gaining earlier earning potential, reducing educational debt, and accelerating their path to professional advancement.
What truly sets this program apart is its individualized approach to training. Residents benefit from early and continuous exposure to Nephrology, tailored mentorship, and a curriculum that adapts to their evolving clinical interests and career goals. This seamless integration fosters deeper learning, stronger continuity of care, and a more cohesive educational experience.
Geisinger will offer one position per year in the NRMP Match for this highly competitive track, and graduates will be board eligible in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
